About This Role
About the Role You'll own entire features from first pixel to production deployment - architecting frontend experiences in React and TypeScript while building the backend services and infrastructure that power them. This role demands someone who thrives on autonomy: you'll make architectural decisions across the stack, analyze performance tradeoffs between UX and system complexity, and ship production-grade code without hand-holding. Working remotely means you'll define your own approach, solve problems independently, and deliver consistently while collaborating asynchronously across time zones. Our Stack - Frontend: React · TypeScript · Next.js · modern build tooling - Backend: Node.js · PostgreSQL · REST APIs · microservices architecture - Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda) · Docker · Kubernetes · GitHub Actions - Observability: Datadog · Grafana · structured logging and distributed tracing What You'll Do - Own end-to-end delivery of critical features spanning React frontends, Node.js APIs, PostgreSQL databases, and AWS infrastructure - Architect scalable full-stack solutions by analyzing technical tradeoffs between user experience requirements and backend system constraints - Make architectural decisions autonomously across frontend performance optimization, API design, database schema evolution, and cloud resource management - Ensure production quality through rigorous code review, comprehensive testing, detailed monitoring instrumentation, and thorough documentation - Analyze system bottlenecks using performance profiling and metrics to identify root causes and implement data-driven improvements - Build and maintain RESTful APIs that balance developer experience, data integrity, and scalability across distributed services - Collaborate asynchronously with product and design partners to translate requirements into precise technical specifications and delivery plans What We're Looking For - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping full-stack web applications in a team environment - Expert-level React and TypeScript with a track record of building complex, performant UIs — you care deeply about component architecture, state management, and user experience polish - Strong backend systems experience with Node.js or similar server-side technologies, including RESTful API design, database modeling, and service architecture - Production experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases — you understand query optimization, indexing strategies, and data integrity at scale - Hands-on AWS experience deploying and operating cloud infrastructure — you've debugged production issues across compute, storage, and networking layers - Proven ability to own features end-to-end: from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement based on real-world performance data - Self-directed work style with strong asynchronous communication skills — comfortable making architectural decisions independently and documenting tradeoffs clearly for distributed teams - Attention to detail across the entire stack: frontend performance and accessibility, API contract design, database schema evolution, and system observability Nice to Have - Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments - Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design and infrastructure-as-code practices (GitHub Actions, Terraform, or similar) - Prior experience working on a remote-first engineering team with strong documentation and async collaboration practices
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping full-stack web applications in a team environment
- Expert-level React and TypeScript with a track record of building complex, performant UIs — you care deeply about component architecture, state management, and user experience polish
- Strong backend systems experience with Node.js or similar server-side technologies, including RESTful API design, database modeling, and service architecture
- Production experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases — you understand query optimization, indexing strategies, and data integrity at scale
